Damon’s voice is breaking, he’s panicking because Klaus is alive, which means he can never really keep Elena safe. His plan failed and he blames himself and he’s throwing things, and she grabs him, takes his face between her hands, tells her to trust him, and you can just see him calming down. Because he trusts her, he cares about her, and she’s the one thing that makes him want to not be reckless and stupid. She tells them they’ll get through it, and that’s all he needs to hear.
